All Hail the Gruene Trout

When the first German settlers arrived in the Texas Hill Country they found a majestic fish swimming in the emerald waters of the spring fed rivers and creeks near Gruene (Pronounced Green). They named this feisty fish the Gruene Trout because of their tendency to act like the Brown Trout they were accustomed to catching back home in Germany. The Gruene Trout has since become known as the Guadalupe Bass, AKA "The National Fish of Texas," and are only found in the beautiful waters of Central Texas. Luckily for us they still act like the aggressive Brown Trout from the "Old Country", swimming in the riffles and voraciously attacking their prey! Gruene Troutfitters offers personalized fly and light tackle fishing adventures, deep in the heart of Texas, in search of Gruene Trout and their bulkier cousin the Largemouth Bass on the San Marcos and Colorado Rivers. We strive to make each trip a one of a kind experience that will leave you with memories to cherish the rest of your angling days.
